Please also note, that in order to receive help, with researching your German ancestors, membership is not mandatory. Thanks for taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

If you will be working with any profiles needing GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

You provided my connection to William Orlando Butler. 💙 I have also started my Watson, Femyer (French), Swallow, Wolford (German) ancestry searches.

Cousin Kelsey, great highlight feature for you on Wikitree. My other cousin Wesley Miller (Miller-64890, see our connection at Slatton-166) ) and I are attempting to monitor and provide citations for the Surname study, which spreads our work among the families including the ones that you and I and Wes do not belong, but I my aim is to emphasize the quality of evidence instead of a massive uploading of names without proper evidence. I am just dipping my toe in, but we have already experienced questionable "contributions" from what appear to be name-collectors from online trees.

Wes is almost certainly your cousin as well, since we calculate that our ancestor John (Slatton-51) carried the same yDNA as your probable ancestor George (Slatton-30). Wes, however, shares no patriline with us as his connection is from a female. It is not likely that I will have time in life to cite the thousands of individuals from our project, so providing a solid foundation and removing uncited "contributions" of unproven data is my main goal. I will be dropping in my chapter on your ancestor, edited specially for WikiTree, and seeing your feature reminded meto do that. I will let you know when that is done, and because I have had some pushback from some of your relatives about the name of William Riley's father, I will expect you to adjudicate on differences of opinion. I have a dead left thumb from cubital tunnel syndrome, so typing is a problem for me, expect me to take my time editing because typing is a particular problem for me these days.

According to Wiki-Tree we are 4th cousins, twice removed (I think) through Uriah Slaton's and Mary Stone's line. Our DNA doesn't show any long-strand matches though. We are also related through another line, surnamed Lewis. I haven't sorted that one in my brain yet. Good to meet my Scots cousin, and to have another academic in the family. Sherry Bain

You have, however, not added any sources to support these facts and since they are pre-1700 it is even more important to add sources to the profiles.
